In 2017, our Community Grant Program funded the Ditto Landing West Greenway in Huntsville, adding two miles of greenway along the Tennessee River. 

We’re making biking better in Alaska through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the Cook Inlet Housing Authority and businesses along Spenard Road in Anchorage to build and install 20-24 custom bike racks along the business corridor.

We’re making biking better in Arizona through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In August 2020, we helped pass the Gilbert General Plan, which will improve connectivity between Gilbert’s bike network systems. In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund a new pump track in Teec Nos Pos for the Shonto Prep School on tribal lands.

We’re making biking better in Arkansas through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In summer of 2020, we partnered with the Walton Family Foundation to help Benton County businesses become national leaders in bicycling, realize the return on investment from an active workforce that embraces bicycling, both for transportation and recreation, and position Northwest Arkansas as the national model for getting more people riding bikes through broad-scale cultural change. 

We’re making biking better in California through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In March 2020, we helped stop a measure in Marin and Sonoma Counties that would have eliminated the voter approved plans to finish building the North-South Greenway, a bike/pedestrian path that would connect residents between Cloverdale to Larkspur. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program helped fund the relocation and rebuilding of the Silver Dollar BMX tracks in Chico.

We’re making biking better in Colorado through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In November 2019, we helped pass a measure in Summit County that renewed a property tax to finance the county’s acquisition and preservation of open space, natural areas and trails. The measure also funds trail construction and maintenance, workforce housing, wildfire mitigation and other public programs and services. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program helped fund a new youth bike park in Colorado Springs.

We’re making biking better in Connecticut through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In 2017, our Community Grant Program funded the WilWalk section of the Norwalk River Valley Trail, connecting Norwalk and Wilton for pedestrians and bicyclists. 

We’re making biking better in Delaware through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program helped fund the purchase and installation of a bike fix-it station to complement two stations built by the City of Wilmington. The stations were placed in key locations around the city that did not have access to other bike repair options.

We’re making biking better in Florida through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In March 2019, we helped pass a land acquisition program resolution that increased funding for waterfront, recreational and open space lands in Jupiter — all areas that bicyclists enjoy and recreate on. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program helped fund the purchase and installation of five bike fix-it stations across Indian River County.

We’re making biking better in Georgia through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund the Jackson Street Bridge in Atlanta, which included protected bike lanes, an expanded walking area and an added sightseeing location.

We’re making biking better in Hawaii through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall 2020, we rallied support from over 200 community members to ask for improved electric bicycle access on state forest trails.

We’re making biking better in Idaho through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding to Teton Valley Trails and Pathways in Driggs, leveraging significant volunteer time to consistently groom more than 21 miles of trails for winter fat biking. In an area supported by recreation, this grant will help make biking a year-round sport. 

We’re making biking better in Illinois through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2019, our Community Grant Program provided funding to Universidad Popular in Chicago, who used this funding to teach youth from the Little Village neighborhood the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for better bike infrastructure and safety to their local Alderman.

In spring 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund the addition of an adaptive bike trail to the Griffin Bike Park in Terre Haute to accommodate differently abled riders.

We’re making biking better in Iowa through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funds to the Cedar Trails Partnership, matching state and federal funds to rebuild the Wolf Creek Bridge in La Porte City, connecting the Cedar Valley Nature Trail and American Discovery Trail for a full 53-mile trail network.

In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund the creation of a new pump track in La Harpe City Park.

We’re making biking better in Kentucky through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall of 2017, our Community Grant Program helped build the Sugarcamp Mountain Bike Park and beginner mountain bike trail in Prestonsburg. 

We’re making biking better in Louisiana through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In May 2019, we helped pass a measure in New Orleans that allocated funding towards improving, maintaining and operating parks and recreational facilities, which improved the Audubon neighborhood’s park systems and public spaces for biking.

We’re making biking better in Maine through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In July 2020, we helped pass a statewide measure that funded $15,000,000 for multimodal facilities and equipment related to transit, freight and passenger railroads, aviation, ports, harbors, marine transportation and active transportation projects that include bicycle infrastructure. In November 2019, we helped pass a measure that authorized a $2.5 million bond to purchase land, conserve open space, provide public access and recreation, and protect wildlife habitat, scenic and environmentally sensitive areas in Scarborough.

We’re making biking better in Maryland through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring of 2020, our Community Grant Program provided funding to develop a Play Streets pilot in Baltimore to plan and pay for community events that will serve as outreach and engagement tools to help plan future infrastructure improvements. 

We’re making biking better in Massachusetts through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In June 2020, we helped pass a measure that increased Ayer’s property tax surcharge by 2% to continue to support the community’s CPA, which funds the development of outdoor recreational facilities that support bike riding. In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund a bike park/pump track in Jamaica Plain through a youth-driven project driven by Bikes Not Bombs’ Bicyclists Organizing for Community Action project. 

We’re making biking better in Michigan through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In March 2020, we helped pass a measure in Ingham County that will fund the creation and maintenance of a countywide system of recreational trails and adjacent parks — including along Lansing’s River Trail — and find new ways to connect and extend existing trailways throughout Greater Lansing and beyond. In August 2020, we helped pass a measure in Washtenaw County that will renew a $500,000 road and non-motorized transportation tax to fund the maintenance of Washtenaw roads, bike lanes and pathways.

We’re making biking better in Minnesota through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In summer of 2019, we supported the establishment of the Outdoor Recreation Promotion Account, which requires any gifts or grants received by Explore Minnesota to be used to promote outdoor recreation projects. In 2019, we helped People For Parks purchase and install bike park features in the Lake Nokomis Regional Park.

In Spring 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding for The United Gospel Rescue Mission, who purchased and installed bike racks to provide secure bike parking for the homeless population that access its services in Poplar Bluff.

In spring 2018, our Community Grant Program helped fund the creation of a balance bike park in Trails End Park in Billings.

We’re making biking better in Nebraska through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the West Point Trails and Pathways Project, supporting funds already raised by the West Point Community Foundation to connect residential areas to schools and parks via bike.

We’re making biking better in New Hampshire through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the Coos Cycling Club to connect the existing mountain bike trail network in Gorham to the downtown area with three related projects on a parcel of land known as “The Jungle”: improvements to the main “Pipeline” trail, addition of an easy climbing trail and construction of a loop trail with skills features that will be known as “The Jungle Gym.”

In June 2019, we helped pass New Jersey’s electric bicycle law, which legalized Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles statewide.  

We’re making biking better in New Mexico through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the city of Farmington to build a pump track in Sycamore Park. When complete, the city will complement this pump track with trails, an environmental lab and outdoor classrooms.

In early 2020, we helped pass New York’s electric bicycle law, which legalized Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles statewide. 

We’re making biking better in North Carolina through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In October 2019, we helped pass a bond referendum that improved the Town of Cary’s transportation infrastructure and improved its parks and recreation needs, including preserving open space and creating greenways and trails that improve the city’s bike connectivity. In spring 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding to BikeWalk NC to work with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and leaders at the state level to strengthen the state’s Complete Streets Policy and build support for increased funding for active transportation infrastructure.

We’re making biking better in Ohio through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In April 2020, we helped pass a measure to maintain and improve many popular bike trails managed by Summit County, including the Bike & Hike Trail, Freedom Trail and portions of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. In May 2019 we helped pass Issue 8 in Columbus, funding $100 million towards improving parks and recreation for activities such as biking. 

We’re making biking better in Oklahoma through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In November 2019, we helped pass an infrastructure package to improve the city of Tulsa’s streets, parks, city facilities and emergency departments. The measure benefits bikes by setting aside funds specifically for bike lanes and improving several parks throughout the city where bike riders of all ages can ride. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program provided funding to Neighbors Building Neighborhoods of Muskogee, who will use the grant to install bike racks in the newly renovated Depot District public space. 

We’re making biking better in Oregon through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In May 2020, we helped pass a 10 cent gas tax renewal that will fund $75,000,000 towards improving Portland’s streets by making them safer for all road users. Included in this measure is $6,000,000 for Safe Routes to School projects, $1,500,000 for sidewalk and bike lane improvements and $4,500,000 for the creation of neighborhood greenways. In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the Eastern Oregon Trails Alliance to build a bike park in John Day.

We’re making biking better in Pennsylvania through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. A devastating flash flood in July 2019 created a 40-foot chasm in the 51-mile Redbank Valley Trail in New Bethlehem, rendering it impassable along a popular stretch. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program provided funding to help the Redbank Valley Trails Association build a bridge to reconnect these sections and revive this popular destination for residents and visitors.

We’re making biking better in Puerto Rico through funding local bike projects. In fall 2018, our Community Grant Program provided funding to the Cabo Rojo Bike and Hike Association, who used our grant to restore 20 miles of mountain bike trails to pre-hurricane condition. 

We’re making biking better in Rhode Island through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund the creation of a new pump track at the Big Blue Bike Barn in Newport, providing youth and families in this dense part of the city with a fun, safe place to ride connected to local trails.

In spring 2019, our Community Grant Program provided funds to Charleston Moves, who used the grant award to power its campaign to add to, retrofit or redesign three crossings of the Ashley River in Charleston.

In spring 2018, our Community Grant Program helped fund new beginner and advanced mountain bike trails built by the SORBA Tri-Cities Mountain Bike Club in Johnson City.

We’re making biking better in Texas through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In November 2019, we helped pass Prop. 5, ensuring that all sales tax revenue (6.25%) from sporting good sales statewide would go to the Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Historical Commission. In 2018, $322 million was raised in revenue from this tax.

At the local level, we rallied support for the Mid-Valley Active Transportation Network Plan, which created better options for residents and visitors to get around Salt Lake City’s mid-valley communities safely by providing regional connections between communities for walking, biking, scooters, and public transportation. In 2017, we helped fund community engagement for the Folsom Trail, a multi-use path extending from Provo to Ogden and to the Salt Lake City central business district.

In spring 2018, our Community Grant Program helped fund the creation of a bike park in Johnson, complementing nearby trails and encouraging more youth to ride.

In November 2019, we helped pass a park improvement bond in Prince William County, providing $41,000,000 to fund the acquisition, design, construction and improvement of parks, trails and greenways across the county for all residents to enjoy and ride bikes on. In fall 2019, our Community Grant Program helped fund a new bike park built on a 14-acre open space area at Sherando Park in Stephens City. It includes 14 skills features and is located along a shared-use path and adjacent to existing mountain bike trails.

In August 2019, we helped pass Prop. 1 in King County, funding parks, recreation, trails and open space throughout the county.

We’re making biking better in West Virginia through funding local bike projects, supporting pro-bike policies and legislation at the local and state levels and highlighting great hometown routes on Ride Spot. In spring 2020, our Community Grant Program helped fund the creation of a beginner bike trail at Cacapon State Park to complement the existing advanced trails throughout the park. The trail meets the requirements for NICA mountain bike team races, events and will ultimately support the local team as well as residents and visitors.

In November 2019, we helped pass Wisconsin’s electric bicycle law, which defined electric bicycles into a three class system and improved access for electric bicycles statewide.
