The First Bike that Changed Me
Stephen Landrum – Chattanooga, TN
My very first bike ever was a black & yellow BMX with the old back pedal brakes, but that’s not the bike I’m going to tell about. The first bike that ever changed me was a 2002 Masi Vincere. Blue and yellow with a complete 105 grouppo; I would never feel the same about biking again. I only got her because I broke my ankle and couldn’t run or Mt. bike for a while. Though she was a 49 cm frame (I now have a 54 cm CAAD 8) I began to travel to further and further destinations and just absolutely got hooked. This was only a year and a 1/2 ago but haven’t spent much time off a road bike since. Today I just finished my Cannondale (had to get my 105 group back, spoiled now I suppose) and am about to put it on the road for the first time. It honestly feels like I’m cheating on my wife or something but it was really time to have a proper sized bike. I’m going to miss my Masi-girl but I thank her for all we had been through that brought my new love of riding to where it is now.
