It was the drugs talking?
Mark Morris – Fairfield, OH
A day or two after knee surgery (and under the influence of pain meds), a friend called and asked if I would consider riding across Montana with him as part of an AIDS fundraising effort. Owning just a mountain bike, I said sure! That was 16 years ago. I am now on my second road bike and continue to log 1000-1500 miles a year. In 2013, I joined a Thomson Bike Tour and rode the Alps stages of the 100th Tour de France including Alpe d’Heuz…unbelievable experience!
I really enjoy the physical challenges of cycling (getting tougher asI have hit my mid-50s), but as others have mentioned, the mental therapy is as important. I typically ride alone and in a semi-rural area near my home. I cannot imagine my life without a bike, a sunny day, and miles of road to ride.
