Bicycling eased my depression
Emma White – Spencer, WV
I had moved to Morgantown, WV to take a new job with my 13 year-old son and we didn’t know anyone so the transition was tough and I became depressed. The cost of living was staggering so money for activities was not an option so someone told me about a non-profit bike trade in program called Positive Spin. My boss lent my son a bike and I had an old cruiser to trade. The volunteers at Positive Spin were great! They put me on a nice used trail bike and my son and I hit the White Park trails! The exercise eased my depression, my son and I had a new activity that didn’t cost any money and something we could do together and spend more time together as a family. I’ve since moved back to my hometown, finances have improved and I bought a new bike and I’m riding every day the sun shines. I am getting healthier both physically and mentally!
