The Green Lane Project was a five-year mission to accelerate the spread of an innovative bicycling facility throughout the United States: the protected bike lane. Between 2011 and 2016, the number of protected bike lanes in the United States quadrupled and they became a permanent tool in the toolbox of American street design.
This project is now complete. In January it'll advance into a new program: PlacesForBikes, which tracks the nation's most advanced biking cities and catalyzes further innovations in bike infrastructure. The links and documents gathered and created under the Green Lane Project will remain here as a public resource.
